Leadership Story

Since back in the days of the spring and summer 2002 – when Mosaic met in the living room of a home on the East side – we have believed that “community” was less a buzzword, more a way of life. We wanted to model community even in the way the church was led. Don Vanderslice and Brian Seay co-pastored Mosaic in the beginning … and when the Seays moved to Nashville, a Leadership Team was formed to help shepherd the community and navigate its journey.

Our Leadership Team is selected through a long community-consensus process. All nominations for the Team are made at the end of a one-day silent retreat. Those names are prayed through and discussed by the Leadership Team and the final names are brought back before Mosaic for conversation and consideration.

Leadership Team members are committed to being:

  • Frequent in presence,
  • Faithful in giving,
  • Responsible in relationships,
  • Enthusiastic about inviting and including others,
  • Disciplined in prayer, Bible study, fasting, meditation, and silence,
  • Missionally engaged in community and culture.
  • As a participant in Mosaic, a servant. As a counselor to others, wise.

Imperfect in all areas but accepting the challenge to grow where she or he is weak. We agree to set the standard high because we will not be a mediocre sacrifice and will not offer to God that which costs us nothing.
